I believe that some of you may be ham radio operators.
I have a question.
My son recently passed the test necessary to gain a Technician license for amateur radio. Considering his college major, Emergency Management, I think a dual band portable radio would be the way to go. Since he is a student with that major, I picture him more as a weather spotter, disaster response person, or something like that, rather than a DXer.

Do you guys have any thoughts on what would be a decent/effective radio?
