IIRC - Weren't the first few orders of Chinese locomotives built at Erie - but now CHina is building their own under an agreement?

There is no doubt that state and local governments have been cutting their budgets, which has meant reducing employment. But state and local governments are forced to live within their means - or raise taxes and fees which some hae done. The federal government does not seem to be affected and just prints more money. Can the rest of us really afford to pay public employees wages and benefits that are better than most of us will ever see in private industry?
I don't deny that anyone should be fairly compensated for their efforts. But, we are losing the middle class. Isn't it sad that the reason the railroads are holding their own in this recession is because of an increase in RAW material export demand and a steady demand for imported finished goods? Our economy is completely out of whack - and it doesn't matter who is or will be president. For the most part, we have done it to ourselves.
