Ah Mouse,

And, your research on ridership tradeoffs from different service, routing, and station locations comes from where?

Isn't it coming from just possibly the same place as most of the "analysis" CHSRA's done on this? Do you really know, or are you just guessing?

What if the travel behavior analysis of demand suggests that more middle distance trips to large increasingly isolated urban centers, like the 500,000 folks that will be living in the Antelope Valley, would be a more optimal and/or affordable travel need to serve?

Oh, that's right, you've used the same dubious "analytical" methodology as the CHSRA, state your outcome first, make sure all analysis comports with and/or panders to whatever the preconcieved fears, bias, and/or political agenda there is, and then it must be true, right?

Or maybe, it's just another part of the vast conspiracy by those evil developers to build affordable homes in the Antelope Valley, putting those evil construction workers back to work, and making more of that evil money, in our evil capitalist system? They might even be conspiring to get better rail services to their communities, than relying on the 2 hour + trip on the 14 Freeway, so they can sell some of those evil houses? And, that would be just awful, wouldn't it?

The work that was never done, when originally "planning" the CHSRA project, should have looked at all of those tradeoff issues and options. But, this project really didn't do the analysis to test many of these options very well, either. This is because, like you, they already knew all of the answers they wanted to hear and/or "believe". And, now we have a complete HSR mess? Wow, go figure?

We probably need to go back to the planning basics on the CHSRA project, and then do a little of the math required, first. Then maybe, we can figure out what the data on trip demand tells us, and then we'd have a lot better idea of what we really need to build to serve our future travel needs, and how to determine which choices (routes, services, stations, travel times) make the most sense and are the most cost effective?
