Per UP DS 54
AMTRAK 14 IS OPERATING via TEHACHAPI TODAY (Weds 2-8-12).
DS 54 just told a maintainer that "AMTRAK WILL be at PALMDALE at 12 NOON or so."

BTW TOday is the last day of the
current detour batch until THuRSDAY the 16th -- SUNDAY 19th.

I myself would NOT wager much MONEY on the Sunday 19 detour happening because
these railroad work projects do often get completed EARLY.
My gut Guess is to only count on the THURSDAY and FRIDAY detours Running (2-16 and 17th).
This is if you absolutely NEED a TEHACHAPI train ride or chase.
This is what happened with a batch of Train 11 detours in the past.
Amtrak and UPRR has to arrange IN ADVANCE for slightly MORE detour dates than may be necessary if the COAST work progress moves very QUICKLY and SWIFTLY.
