Re: Have you ever been to a wreck or fatality?

How many of the jack jawed conspiracy theory types have been to a fatal accident or major wreck?

Damn few, I'd say, from some of the nonsense being spouted.

There used to be a saying that every rule was written in blood, well that's why we have rules, and that's why we try to follow them. Learn some history, look up what happened at Tortuga? It's an easy local example of why a new rule came into being.

Then, if everybody knows and follows the rules hopefully, nobody gets killed very often, or maybe we prevent a few wrecks that might cause damage to the neighbors, as well,. This is because in the fact based universe, where the laws of physics meet the laws to tort, and people and property can be hurt through inattention or negligence, that's just the way it is.

No conspiracy theory necessary: We have met the enemy and it is us!

I hope these bizarre attitudes toward the rail safety regulations aren't reflected in the safe behavior of railfans near the property?

People of every stripe get killed out all of the time, by being all kinds of suupid, and quite often, from the stupid of not knowing or following the applicable rules.

You can thank Chatsworth for a good part of this. Lousy rules training, lousy rules compliance, lousy rules enforcements, lousy rules testing, and lousy rules oversight managed to kill quite a few nice folks on there way home. So that's how the real world works when you don't have obedience to the rules.

"Safety is of the first importance, obedience to the rules is required."

Comments will be taken in the Federal rulemaking process. This process will look at some variations of certifications or levels of training needed for different safety needs, this is why they take comment on these things, and then they may modify a final rule, as a result of such input.

As to the various conspiracy theories about how "they" are about to secretly beam us up to the UFO for secret tests?

Note: This "jack booted" Federal railroad safety rulemaking, regulating interstate commerce, has only been going on in one form or another for about 120 years or so now....... And, given the overall RR safety record, most of these rules must not be doing everything completely wrong all the time?
