Eastern Washington has several Port Districts (Generally by County) to deal with transport issues. Some of them actually do have barge service at some facility on the Snake or Columbia, but a lot are completely "dry". The Pend Oreille Valley Railroad in the northeast corner of the State is owned by the Port of Pend Oreille. The Port of Royal Slope in the middle of the State also ows a currently mothballed railroad connecting to a remnant of the Milwaukee mainline.
