The WP North Channel Spur route is adjacent to Pacific Memorial Stadium. I believe that in the early 1950s, the WP would run football specials from Oakland direct to the College of the Pacific. Their stadium is now named for one of the better known COP coaches, Amos Alonzo Stagg, Jr.
The passenger specials were a thing of the past when I got to Stockton in the mid-60s. I had an apartment adjacent to the line, just west of Pershing Avenue. On occasion, a switcher would appear with three or four cars and a caboose to take care of business along the branch. At that time, there were no commercial docks on the north side of the Stockton Channel, so whatever business was not port related.
