John,
That is a good one.... it's one of the most scenic photo locations along the NWP "north end".
Not easy to get there either - I can attest that it's a 3 hour drive from the Bay Area via Hwy 101 to Garberville, with a half hour drive up and over the hills on a poorly paved (often gravel surface) twisty road to Alderpoint, plus a mile hike along the right-of-way to reach your photo location. So, to all you "he men" that trudge 5 miles through the snow to get to your choice photo location, John's photo ranks right up there in the A for effort department!
Unless he was privileged to ride along with the train crew that day; John, is that your "friend" standing in the curve behind the last flatcar, flagging a reverse move while the crew poses the train for your camera?
However you managed it, the photo is great. Hard to believe it's been a quarter century since the EUKA was rolling trains along the Eel River.
