Rail has been removed from the south side of the Oberlin Road crossing. Some was removed from north of the crossing to just short of the propane dealer south of the Yreka depot and shop.

As for for the lack of scenery, I would disagree. Stunning views of Mount Shasta and the southern Cascade range, an enjoyable trip through the Shasta River valley and the surrounding farmlands made it one of my favorites. Don't know that I would classify a railroad that has its home terminal on the main north/south freeway in California as being "too far from the general public". Granted, Yreka may not be a destination, but an aggressive advertising campaign and a stronger economy could keep it going.

It ain't dead yet...
