Western Pacific Headlight question

Speaking of headlights, you WP fans out there might know. Why did the WP stick with the steam style, (early F-unit style) Pyle screw in bulb headlights for so long, rather than the standard twin sealed beam headlights? It had to be an extra cost to get it's locomotives up through the GP-35's delivered with those big barrel headlights. I've always wondered and hope someone can answer this mystery for me. Thanks in advance to those who reply.
