When I worked for the WP in the late 70s, a lot of units still had the barrel headlights on the rear, and a few (mostly GP20s) had them on both ends. As I remember, about all they put out was a sickly yellow glow and you could hardly see the track in front of you. Perhaps their quality had faded by that time.
