Same here; the lawyer-poiliticians and NIMBYs are turning the Golden State into a lead-lined cesspool and are too stupid or greedy to care that they're making life hell for the folks who just want to make an honest living. As for the Empire of Marin and the Principality of Novato... well, what else would you expect? They'd rather drive gas-guzzling luxury SUVs and sedans that cost more than most of us make in a year and sit in traffic (most of 'em probably have their vehicles set up as rolling offices so they don't have to worry about lost time in traffic anyway) rather than use something as pedestrian as public transportation, much less pay taxes for it (especially if they aren't using it). Doesn't help the folks who have to commute into the area and do real work that the residents won't, though...
