Over on TO, Larry Tuttle just posted the news that the boiler of Medford Corp. 70-3 Willamette Geared Locomotive 4 has been loaded on a truck and is on its way to WA. Destination is Chelatchie Boiler Works where it will get the necessary work and repairs to be issued a new Form 4. The ultimate goal by the Southern Oregon Chapter of the NRHS, owners of the Willamette, is eventual operation in the Medford area. They also own former Medford Corp. Baldwin diesel 8.

I donated to the fundraiser for this project and was happy to do so. These folks seem to have a lot of of foresight and willingness to work toward an end. I know several of them and count them as friends. They can always use any help, either financial or otherwise.

Medco had a total of 8 locomotives...
1 2-6-2 scrapped
2 Willamette scrapped
3 2-8-2 sold to California Western in the mid 60's and renumbered to 45
4 Willamette being rebuilt
5 70-3 Shay scrapped
6 2-8-2T converted to a tender type scrapped
7 Willamette has been on display in Dunsmuir, CA since around 1964 or 65
8 Baldwin diesel with dynamic brake was sold to Magam Arizona in 1968, dieselizing the road.
Stored serviceable in the Medford area.
