Apparently not as Mr. Hammond spoke of using the RDC's for the fishing trains. They are expensive in part because each RDC requires the same inspection protocol every 90 days like a diesel locomotive unless out of service paperwork is filed. It would be far easier to source parts for an aging GP7 than these orphans. From this standpoint, if money for purchase wasn't an issue one small EMD locomotive, smaller than a GP7 pulling a one or two pass. cars as needed would be more cost effective. In the case of these each unit has small modifications that have occurred over their lives making each one slightly unique in various ways. From first had experience control wiring is slightly different on each one. In my humble opinion they belong somewhere else where there is a similar fleet of RDC's.
