Very recently posted on the www.eaglecaptrain.com web site is announcing the first
Blue Goose Steam excursion on June 23. They are also running a Mother's Day Brunch
train on May 13 but no mention of steam for this run.
In partial answer to Dewy's question, it is my understanding that the Astoria folk were luke warm to any continued operations after the three year project (as George notes). I continue to be very disappointed that ODOT didn't do a post project report evaluating the postives and negatives of the project. There were some lessions learned that should be shared. One is the problem of a lack of overnight guests for Astoria. Folk staying a couple of hours doesn't generate much revenue, overnighters does but how do you deal with lack of revenue from the empty train seats....etc
And yes, it is good news that the Columbia River Maritime Museum is starting renovations of the Astoria depot that they own.
