I'm suprised at the lack of support for restoring freight and passenger service on the NWP Especially on a train buff website. Get your facts right. The Golden Gate bridge district has nothing to do with the NWP. SMART is a separate enitity . Only if the voters of Marin and Sonoma counties pass a one quarter cent sales tax would passenger service begin. It has nothing to do with fat politicans. The ferries lose money just like all the bus and light rail transit systems accross the nation. So What? Would you prefer we give Iraq another billion this week? Once the tracks are restored to operating condition as far as Windsor the new freight operator belives he can make money hauling the massive amounts of refuse Sonoma county generates every day. Now hauled by truck. It would be shortsighted for the goverment not to invest in the only alternative to an ever crowed hwy 101 wich continually gets goverment funding for improvements.
