Very busy hectic day on the UP that's for sure. Train GSETTA detailed 14 cars over the side of the small incline above the county road at MP85 on the Spokane Sub. Reportedly the shelf the railroad sits on while it climbs gave away half way back in the train. The hole is roughly 40-60 deep and about 200' long. No access so the railroad is building some as week speak. Like Ted said I'm about 99% sure this was a soy bean train and other crews here are saying 7-8 cars broke open and spilled. Reroutes are being planned as we speak. A northbound GSSEET is running around his train right now at Clagstone and will come back to Spokane and go to the BNSF some time in the a.m as they have more crews available to handle the extra load. No power was involved I don't know where rumors like this start! Everyone is safe it's just a big mess to clean up. Right now the railroad expects to have the railroad back open in 3-5 days. This all comes just as two tie gangs are about to show up and install 80K ties from Athol to Eastport starting April 6th or 7th. Also we just got word that Canpotex will be going from 8-9 Potash trains monthly to a goal of 22 monthly and this still isn't even the big upswing from the new contract.
P.S. Mr Kelly I believe you and your son shot me and my train the other night mid week at CDA jct at Hayden rd?? UP 8278 leader
