Turns out MRL will NOT be handling UP detours, due to something with BNSF at the east end. Marias Pass would be an interesting place to visit right now, a bit more traffic. Better yet, catch a few UPs on BNSF at places in north Idaho were the UP route is also in view, like Crossport eastward, Bonners Ferry, Deep Creek, Naples, Elmira.
