Roy Gabriel was a fantastic individual. A longtime member of the Board of Directors of the Western Railway Museum at Rio Vista Junction, CA as well.
And because of him, railfans had two great collector shows to attend each year, in which to sell their wares... He will be missed but not forgotten. When I produced my "Sacramento Northern" DVD earlier this year, the last several minutes of the video covers the NRHS trip on the Woodland and Holland branches of the SN in 1993. Most of the members are sitting down in the open-air tour car-- NOT Roy.. There he is, his constant smile denoting he was enjoying himself, standing on the wood deck, above the coupler, of the Yolo Shortline caboose---
holding onto the ladder, as he swayed back and forth, as we rolled along the now abandoned and ripped up Holland Branch of the SN--- what would be his final trip on the one time Interurban line. May God rest his soul!!
