For those not familiar with Campbell County, Wyo., it is of
course in the northern part of the Powder River Basin, the
center for coal train activity in the U.S.

One really neat way to see the scale of coal mining and rail
operations in the area is to take an air tour out of Gillette/
Campbell County (GCC) airport. If you have three people, a
charter in a small aircraft for an hour or slightly more is not
that expensive.


And, for what it's worth, Campbell County, W.Va., also is a
center of coal activity.
