SD-40 verse SD-40-2 Question?

It is my understanding that the SD-40 and SD 40-2 are virtually the same in appearence, frame length, fan location and fan housing, etc.? That the dash 2 was all about up dated electrical componants with in the engine? Same outward appearance?
