Not quite ....

Lake County, Oregon bought the SP branch (originally narrow gauge NCO) between Alturas, California and Lakeview, Oregon - which is the actual Lake County Railroad. The first contract operator was the NCO Division of the Great Western (Omnitrax), then Lake County ran it themselves for a while. The Modoc Northern obtained a contract to operate the LCR in addition to a UP lease between Alturas and Klamath Falls, After Modoc Northen went bust, then Lake Railway took over as contract operator of the Lake County Railroad, then added their own UP lease from Alturas to Perez. Lake Railway is related to the other Frontier Rail operations.
