The CCT has an out of service corridor from MP 21 to MP 34 in Sacramento County and we enforce the laws against trespassing due to the liability issues. We also have neighbors along the out of service ROW who complain from time to time so when I see goofballs trying to set up a tour of the Railroad ROW accross bridges in in areas where some one could get hurt and on railroad property without permission I have to try and figure out what they are thinking or the lack of thinking or a brain. And no I did not turn them in to UP.
Here is an example of a note I got just today from a neighbor on the CCT line.
"I am emailing you to plead for some help. I own a parcel that’s a little over three acres in Elk Grove that I’ve had for the last ten years. About 1200’ or so abuts the abandoned railroad and it is becoming quite a nuisance. The corridor is traversed by vagrants, horse riders, motorcycles, ATV’s, mountain bikers, four wheeling trucks and SUV’s, dog walkers, drug users and waste dumping criminals. Is there any advice that you can give to help me recover the privacy of my backyard"
I have advised this person to call the CCT office and try and get a description of the trespassers and then CCT will have law enforcement come out and CCT will sign a complaint if they are caught.
The railroad ROW is railroad property and I do not think any of you want folks walking around your front or back yards. Many of you on this board know the CCT is railfan friendly but CCT still does not want anyone trespassing.
