Light Rail has exactly the kind of platform access argued against here at many stations. That's because LR is built to a price in most cases - you can't do fully-separated track and stations for $20-30m/mile. Where trains on both tracks will be in the station at the same time there usually seem to be rules or at least general practices about the first one not leaving until the second one stops or the like, and liberally using bell and if necessary horn to let people who can't see a train coming behind the other to at least have a chance. Even so, there are occasional take-downs generally with fatal or nearly-so results.
