Stash is right. Our interstates are actually beginning to fall apart, and increased truck weights are a big part of the cause. I don't know, if Siskiyou restoration would be economically viable just for this reason. We have not been willing to charge trucks additional taxes for this increased road damage, we have increased truck weights by nearly 70% since these interstates were built, many of these interstates are even older (and meaner?) than me, and it's really beginning to show.
Now we are in a situation of extreme political dysfunctionality where can't even pass a transportation bill extension, much less agree on an actual six year bill. So while our politicians debate important issues like the flatness of the earth, conspiracies by the space aliens to contol our minds, and who's lobbyist gives the best bribes for government freebies, much of our national infrastructure is actually falling apart.
