Gold Hill, NV - Depot and Live Steam Saturday, May 26

I spoke with members of the Gold Hill Historical Society and they said on Saturday, May 26 (Memorial Day Weekend), they will be firing up Sierra Nevada Wood and Lumber Company 2-6-2 #8. Starting at 10am, society members are planning on providing a unique outdoor trackside Q & A session complimented with live steam operating demonstrations of #8. Additionally, the Gold Hill Depot will be open for tours to show off restoration efforts of the 1869 vintage building serving the infamous Virginia & Truckee Railroad.

Also the Virginia & Truckee Railroad Company in Virginia City and Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City will be operating steam trains Memorial Weekend.
