I believe the rail line in the vicinity of the 5/14 - 5/210 - 5/405 interchanges was damaged in the 1971 earthquake where they crossed the surface fault zone. The fallen bridges were a problem too, including some that fell on the RR. Numerous reports were written about the earthquake, though there was little focus on railroads - the road and hospital damage was much more spectacular!

The 1994 earthquake caused minimal RR damage in the area of this interchange. IIRC Metrolink was running their suddenly added Palmdale service within a couple of days.
