Drew,

What they are looking for are pictures taken by a machine to be viewed by machines. The ability of an image to evoke an emotion or take you to a special place is not part of their sterile analytical criteria.

I sent in a few pictures when I started taking pictures of trains and was rejected for back lighted subjects and common power. Then I started receiving private e-mails from readers of West Coast Rail Forums and Altamont Press telling me some of the images I have posted brought back their fondest memories of working for the railroads. I can’t think of any better reason to capture images and share them with others. No doubt your wonderful images posted here do that for many. I think seeking their approval is a hollow pursuit and can’t compare to how much your images are truly appreciated here.
