I never knew or met him personally and mostly read about him on the railfan newsgroup posting/bulletin boards. He was obviously an icon among the railfans and it is not surprising to me that you have received so many accolades about him. You are blessed, even if you arent totally aware why, (if you aren't railfans):-) He is a true legend in many railfan circles.
