What a wonderful time...so much cooperation between business, park folks, the community. Seems folks wanted things to happen back then, rather than trying to think of ways to block things.

In the 1990s, we asked the local power company for some telephone poles for some construction at a Boy Scout camp, and they not only gave us the poles, but they delivered them, and sent along a crew with a huge auger, and set the poles where we wanted them. Sadly, more recently, they tell us that they have no budget for any contribution, no crews available for any help, etc.

I am sure there are still some "helpers" out there, but not like the "good old days".
