May explain why Amtrak 8 was a couple hours late by the time it reached Idaho this morning. No.8 was even later this past Saturday due to motive power issues. My son and I got him in fall colors north (railroad east) of Sandpoint shortly after sunrise, green BN SD40-2 on the point.
