I for one have no doubt that some kind of climate shift is occurring. There is little to no scientific debate over that. But is it man made? Maybe, maybe not. I would tend to believe that human activity is having a significant impact, but isn't the whole story.
The problem isn't the scientists and researchers working on this, though, but the politicans who manipulate, misread and misrepresent scientific data for whatever self-serving hardon most politicians seem to have these days.
That said, I agree wholeheartedly with Bruce, Hepkema, etc. "Asinine" is the word that comes to mind right now. You can't have your cake and eat it when it comes to energy, people.
Here's a good one: Did you know that the Toyota Prius is filled with 800 lbs of batteries? Did you also know that batteries are among the most toxic and energy-intensive manufactured products made today? So how green, really, is that Prius when it took 3 times the manufacturing energy and produced twice the volume of toxic manufacturing waste than my 3/4 ton Chevy was responsible for when GM made it? Hybrid cars are marevlous technology and that technology will yield a lot of benefits but there's no free lunch when it comes to energy.
