Sounds like questions you should ask Amtrak.

As to the Zephyr between Omaha and Chicago, it has ALWAYS used that route. From decades before there was Amtrak and the line was still CB&Q.

There is also a CN line and an IAIS line between Omaha and Chicago. Does Amtrak have a bias against running the Zephyr on either of those lines? Doubtful.

Or is all this just another of your efforts at a little UP-bashing?
