Additionally, the "Northern" name applied to the 4-8-4 type of steam locomotives warranted preservation of this, or at least another NP Northern steam locomotive. Sadly, no NP 4-8-4s have been preserved, although the SP & S 700 is close to one of the NP 4-8-4 classes.
