There were many "Casey Jones" excursions on the NP. I believe the first was pulled by S-4 class ten wheeler 1372. These were organized by an older woman by the name of Carol Cornish, somewhat of a "thorn in the side" of the Seattle officials.

My suspicion is that "Casey Jones" was a nostalgic name related to steam and was a promotional gimmick. Several of these excurions were run after the end of steam, behind various diesel power, mostly with vintage (unneeded) coaches.
