Yes, much of the line is supposed to be near the ridgeline, but first you have to get up to the ridgeline. Blue Goo (and worse ... serpentine once you get into the Klamaths) all the way.

Being on the ridgeline doesn't make you immune from landslides taking some of the mountain out from below the line. Though it does reduce some exposure.

Being on the ridgeline leaves you open to ALL the weather. It does snow there on occasion...
