Here's a shot for you to try at Castle Rock: From the exit, go south (across the freeway), then back east on the frontage road. When the hill between the frontage road and the freeway drops away, stop. You're looking up the canyon the UP follows down from Curvo. The shot will be better if you climb the hill.

You need a LONG lens to really take advantage of this shot - 600 to 1000 mm.

You probably won't be able to get this shot *and* get 844 leaving Evanston. You almost certainly won't be able to get this shot and catch 844 at Wasatch.

Sorry that I don't have a pic to show what this looks like. But you can see the UP on the side of the canyon for a mile or more. (If they route 844 down the normal uphill main, this shot won't work.)
