High Speed Rail is basically 1960's technology, and is a colossal waste of money.

Elon Musk, of Tesla, Space-X and SolarCity fame, says Hyperloop could carry people from LA to SF in 30 minutes. At a cost of $6B, one-tenth of the amount Jerry Brown is touting for the Calif High Speed Rail system.

The speculation is that Hyperloop is a pneumatic tube-based system.

Perhaps the Feds should spend $100M to research alternate transportation technologies, before they dole out $30B (minimum) on CAHSR.
