Dick, I am not familiar with the photos in Denny's but I imagine it is one of the Dreyfus streamlined Hudsons built for the 20th Century Limited.
Yes they were called Hudsons, Classes J-1a,b,c,d,e, J-2 (Boston and Albany), J-3.
Road Numbers 5200 through 5474 after a massive renumbering in 1936. Original 6600 series for the "Big Four", C,C,C & StL division, 8200 series for the Michigan Central.
Yes, the Boston and Albany had 20 of their own, with 75 inch drivers instead of 79 on the J-1's and J-3's. Originally 600-619, later 5455-5474.
The best book that covered them was Al Staufer & Ed May's "Thoroughbreds."
