I'll try to answer some of the questions here.
The PRS Excursion Director is also a full time Amtrak Conductor, has several children at home, among many other things. She is over burdened with things to do and that may be why you didn't get any responses back. In fact, it took me a week to get in touch with her recently.
When I said the ex-CNW cars were being gutted, yes, everything is being removed from the inside and a completely new inside will be built.
X-train will run at Maximum Authorised Passenger Train Speed, and that is still 79 MPH. UP still maintains the Cima Subdivision for Passenger Train Speed.
No, I have not heard of any special car on the rear end, although, the way this X-train thing is going, you never know, they might find some special car, but I highly doubt it.
I had not heard anything about an E Unit for power either. Again, aledgedly, the power will be Amtrak Units, but don't know what Amtrak will provide. Power to be "wrapped" in the X-train scheme to match the cars.
