Greetings (and soon, salutations) from the East Coast!
Now that the leaves have fallen, I thought I'd share
some scenes from two steam railroads each within 20
minutes of each other (it's PA thing, lol).
First up - the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad
New Hope is just North of Trenton, NJ on the PA side
and runs a 2-8-0, former Lancaster and Chester #40
along former Reading Trackage.
Hood Trestle - The dark side
Hood Trestle - Sunny side (one week later)
Reader Road X-ing
2nd Trestle at Hood - Dark side.
Second up - the Black River and Western
The BR&W is located in Ringoes, NJ which is also about 20 minutes North of Trenton, NJ
but on the Jersey side. The crew recently restored former Great Western #60, a 2-8-0
like New Hope's engine, and this was the first official public outing (though it ran
earlier). The line is former PRR and CNJ. Most of this line is through tree tunnels
and retail backlots.
Through an S-curve
Through a former CNJ trestle
Under Pennsylvania Ave overpass
Hope you enjoyed!
