Recommendations for handheld scanner?

I need a new scanner. I went to Radio Shack. They have one for about $170 and another for almost $400. I'm hoping to pay a lot less. Scanner World web site shows a Bearcat handheld (BC72XLT 100)for under $100. Can anyone tell me if this is a good scanner? Any other recommendations for a not-too-pricey handheld? Many thanks.
