BNSF engineering has removed creosote from most of their lines. I suspect that they have a map "hung on the office wall" showing those remaining. It costs construction and track time to replace them with concrete. They are making progress.
They stock steel H sections for piling, plus concrete deck sections, equipment, and competent tradesmen. Do the railroads still use the abbreviation B&B for bridge and building constructors?
Modelers are advised to get their photos of timber trestles, or rely on books.
One of the greatest is in Bellevue, Washington. With 737 fuselages crossing it most weekdays. Sorry, no more Dinner Train.
