Charlotte, N.C., the largest city in the two Carolinas, has a ballot measure on repealing a half-cent (per cent) tranist [sales] tax that was intrumental in helping build the city's first light rail line, which is scheduled to open at the end of this month.
The line will, of course, open regardless of how the vote goes, but new light rail lines could be delayed. (There are several additional ones already under consideration and in the planning stages.)
The last I heard, the projected outcome of the vote was a toss-up, so I will be looking to see how the vote went. Try the Charlotte Observer newspaper site at
