Based on personal observation & conversation with local Amtrak operating personnel, the Cascades service has returned to its' pre - breakdown status. A drive - by @ CEECO Tuesday 11/13/2007 did not show any such equipment visible; possibly something inside the shop. A drive - by the Seattle coach yard week of 11/04/2007 saw 2 " Fins ", end cars for Talgo, present.
Recall that Trains # 510 & 517, the Vancouver B.C. service, had Superliners substituted in early 2007. Officially this was done to allow the Talgo trainsets to be cycled thru CEECO for repainting / refurbishing. UN - Officially, this was done to increase capacity on the usually sold - out Vancouver run, as well as suppling Talgo cars to each of the " South " runs to increase the capacity there.Use of non - tilt equipment has the least impact on the " North " runs' schedule, due to many long tangents North of Everett, WA. Perhaps Jeff Schultz of WSDOT can confirm the above information, as well as give an update to the announced 2 - nd Vancouver run status...
