"#3035 almost cut in two in Vernon- 1956
PCC 3035 was being towed from Vernon Yard to South Park Shops by a "bertha" wreck truck. The truck lost traction as this portion of the track was in open ballast and the operation came to a halt. The engineer of the Santa Fe Railway could not stop his locomotive in time and struck the streetcar broadside. Fortunately no one was on the car. This photo shows the result. 1956" [
