Thanks Chuck for info on what has been considered on the trail, and thanks for spelling grandiose correctly. Actually a trail suitable for at least mountain bikers with fairly uniform gravel could be pretty neat especially if train excursions become a thing of the past on the line. The downside of a trail suitable for mtn. bikes is that it could make the train excursion less viable. The canyon is mainly inaccessible now unless you hike, float the river or ride the train, so I wonder if the train rides would be as interesting with large numbers of mountain bikers riding along in the foreground?
