Hope you're right as we've seen this happen in Colorado too. The initial reason for the formation of the Roaring Fork Transit Authority was to purchase what was left of the Aspen branch for preservation of the rail infrastructure[i][/i]. As things evolved the railroad infrastructure wound up being sold for scrap and used to pay for the installation of a trail on the RR right of way. Don't think it can't happen just because the authority says they have no intention of getting rid of the rail. As has been said the trail lobby has a lot of clout.
