A couple of points on CRY's comments. As I pointed out in another post, the PLA is planning to build the wye in Niles. It is just down the priority list at this time. There is no room for a wye on the east end of the railroad but our civil engineer has said there is a place we can build a turntable outside Pleasanton city limits where it won't interfear with the pipeline and fiber optic cable that runs along the ROW. Note that current politics in Pleasanton is preventing us from building into town. It's no big deal though. If we did build there we would have a ton of NYMBY problems.

He mentions the historic diesels from the OTR. Does he mean the PLA collection that used to be stored there? If so they have been in the canyon for almost two years now (amazing how time flies).
