As a current Tacoma resident, I have to echo the sentiments of the above poster. Tacoma is no longer the gang infested hole it was decades of yore. Sure it has problems, but I'd venture the nearby crap that goes on in Parkland and Spanaway gives it as much of a bad name as anything that goes on inside the city proper. I lived in one of the lousy south end neighborhoods for 7 years and had one incident of vandalism at my home. Everyone knows that doesnt happen in Seattle or Portland right?

Tacoma's great, and has a great railroad landscape!
